FRANK M. COSTANTINO, Watercolorist
Member: Salmagundi Club, New England Watercolor Society

Frank Costantino, an award-winning architectural illustrator for thirty-five years in his hometown of Winthrop MA, is also an accomplished watercolor painter. Not only has he provided his national clientele of architects and developers with striking illustrations of various projects around the world, but he also paints his own vision of Boston’s urban scenes, N.E. locales, seascapes, birds, animals, and portraits, among other interests.

Frank is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society (N.E.W.S.), as well as the venerable Salmagundi Club of New York, two of the oldest art societies in the United States, as well as the North East Watercolor Society in NY. He is also a long-standing member and supporter of his local Winthrop, Marblehead and Lynn Art Associations. He has been commissioned to paint five postal cards for the U.S.P.S. Historic Preservation Series. Since 1994, he has been listed in Who’s Who in America.

His watercolor work has been exhibited throughout the Northeast, as well as West Coast venues in juried, group or solo shows. He has an association with Boston’s Charles River Conservancy (CRC), and paints scenes along the river to promote CRC’s conservation programs. Frank is also represented in various galleries and retail locations, featuring limited edition prints and card series. He also conducts watercolor workshops at all levels of skill in various venues in the Northeast.

He is continually inspired by the effortless, masterful works of watercolorists from many eras and cultures, particularly Sargent, Homer, Turner, Prendergast, Wyeth, Hiroshi, Zorn and Winthrop native John Whorf. His versatile painting style has developed in seminars with notable artists and authors Charles Reid, Jeanne Dobie, Don Andrews, and Carleton Plummer.

Frank enjoys the fluid challenge of the watercolor medium and the rich, luminous qualities that can be achieved in a successful piece. Patrons from across America, as well as overseas, have acquired his distinctive paintings for their private collections. An ever-widening collector following for his vibrant series of prints continues to expand.
