St. Michael’s, MD

Sue & Bob’s Boat, housed at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Michael’s, MD. was lovingly completed by the husband and wife builders at the Museum facilties. Cradled at a rakish angle, with the sinuous curves and reflective surfaces of this craft, the composition was set in dynamic perspective, which focused on the curved tracery of ribs, hull, and a single side. The boat was a visual challenge of highlights, color and value reversals, and strong contrasts; with its seats inlaid with the owner’s custom “woodsaics” scenes.
