MAA’s Anniversary Scherzo #90

Painted during the Marblehead Art Association’s 90th anniversary reception, the contrast of many lit candles against the dark piano was the striking element for the composition. Abby the pianist at the keys, seen only with the music reflected in her glasses, emerged from the lower half of the painting. The muted room light made for a dark palette of blues, greens and grays to support the bright candles.
