Ship Dorthe

Painted at an edge of Baltimore Harbor from a mezzanine level, this enormous freighter was servicing the nearby Domino sugar plant. The bright contrast of the yellow crane with all the blue remaining elements was the striking color inspiration for the work. The ship’s deep curved shadow on its hull required a carefully planned approach to the dark washes.
